Dear Members of the International Information Management Association (IIMA),
I feel honoured to serve as your next President of the Association, following two years of exceptional leadership provided by Alison Munsch, Ph.D. I feel humbled to have been elected to lead the Association and guide it through the challenging times ahead.
Given the accelerating pace of digital transformation, including the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, the importance of our collective work cannot be overstated. It is our shared responsibility to facilitate critical knowledge exchange, collaboration, and innovation to ensure we remain at the forefront of this ever-changing Information Management professional and academic research landscape.
Geopolitical issues are prevalent now and cannot be ignored. However, as an international community, we bear the obligation to bring people together. We must examine where our ideas diverge, but more importantly, identify areas where we can combine and collaborate to foster optimal outcomes. This collaboration should aim to create a better society for everyone. My primary objective will be to cultivate this international community inclusively.
I wish to extend my gratitude to all past and present members of the International Information Management Association (IIMA) who have contributed to this wonderful community. We are obligated to acknowledge the immense contributions of our past presidents, board members, and every dedicated member who has ensured the standing of the International Information Management Association. The continued commitment of our predecessors to the field and this association has unequivocally paved the way for us to carry the torch forward.
We are thankful to the organisers of IIMA 2025 for facilitating a wonderful conference. Our forthcoming annual conference in 2026 will be hosted in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Europe). This city offers a unique setting where history and future come together under the theme Rebuilding Bridges: Digital Growth for a Sustainable Future. I look forward to collaborating with the IIMA 2026 conference organisers to make this an unforgettable experience that brings the IIMA community together from East to West, and North to South.
Let us collectively strive to ensure that IIMA marks a significant advancement toward constructing a better world for all, and together work on (online) activities throughout the year to bring our international community together. Thank you!
