IIMA Founder, CEO, Founding Editor-in-Chief of our journals, colleague and friend of many, “Tapie” Rohm Jr. died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 after a struggle with cancer.

Tapie, professor emeritus of information and decision sciences at Cal State University San Bernardino, had recently retired after 36 years of service to the university. Just a few days before his death, on June 17, he still served as bearer of the mace for the Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration Commencement ceremony.

An internationally and nationally recognized educator, consultant, author, entrepreneur and businessman, Tapie had written 14 books, published 75 articles in professional, refereed journals, presented more than 100 professional papers, and published more than 1,538 professional articles for others in 90 different issues of IIMA journals.

Earlier this month, family and friends celebrated Tapie’s 70th birthday which included a book of expressions of gratitude from many IIMA friends and colleagues.

He is survived by Karen, his wife of 43 years, eight children and 25 grandchildren.

The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the C.E. Tapie Rohm, Jr. Research and Scholarship Fund (http://iima.org/wp/scholarships-donations/). This scholarship was set up 8 years ago to honor Tapie for his many years of service to the IIMA.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, June 26, at 10 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3860 N. Waterman Ave., San Bernardino. Family and friends will be in the Relief Society Room at 9 a.m. to pay their respects.
